Welcome to Wool Haven.
I am a wife, mother, and homemaker, using my hands for meaningful work.
The name, Wool Haven, was born from a longing to create a safe place (“haven”) for all things wool related. Here, you will find some of the items I love to create and create with. My hope is they may become treasured family heirlooms, including one-of-a-kind, signature Merino wool children’s blankets, that I weave by hand, as well as hand-knitted woolen garments for littles and a selection of Merino wool yarns and roving from the sheep we raise here on our farm.
In 2017, my husband, Steven, and I, became first-generation farmers here in West Michigan by purchasing a couple of older purebred Merino sheep (Molly and Maggie) to see if shepherding was for us. It was love at first sight and now we can’t imagine ever not having sheep!
In 2019, we introduced three purebred Merino ewes to our farm from Mendenhall Wool Ranch (California), who we named Bianca (white), Beulah (moorit) and Bære (morrit).
In 2021, we introduced a heritage breed, Tunis wether from Leatherwood Creek Farm (Tennessee), to our flock, which we are very thrilled about. His name is Buddy.
And, in 2022, we introduced a very regal looking horned purebred Merino ram from Black Sheep Farm in Virginia, Cezanne, who was Champion Natural Colored Ram at the 2022 Maryland Sheep & Wool Festival.
We are in the process of moving to more of the countryside, where we now own 60 acres, to continue growing and raising our family and flock. We have four beautiful children, Elsie (7 years), Sydney (5 years), Walter (3 years) and Naomi (1 year).
We are members of the Michigan Sheep Producers Association (MSPA) and also the Natural Colored Wool Growers Association (NCWGA). All of our Merinos are registered with either the NCWGA or the American & Delaine Merino Record Association according to their fleece color.
We give you our best from our growing farm.
Warmly,
Holly
